In regions without adequate centralized wastewater treatment plants, sample collection from rivers and sewers provides a practical alternative for disease surveillance. This study presents long-term longitudinal monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in urban rivers and sewers across Nepal, highlighting trends in community transmission and the value of environmental surveillance in low-resource settings.
