Hepatitis A and E viruses (HAV and HEV, respectively) remain a significant global health concern, particularly in regions with limited access to clean water and sanitation. This review examines the prevalence of HAV and HEV in wastewater across Asian countries, discusses the role of wastewater surveillance in understanding disease burden, and identifies opportunities for using environmental monitoring to support prevention and control efforts.
